MetLife Insurance Company
MetLife is one of those companies whose name alone is enough to give you some understanding of the stability and quality of the products. It doesn't hurt that their mascot is one of the most beloved cartoon characters of all times. Seeing snoopy dancing in a commercial or advertisement is sure to pull you in the direction of MetLife - at least in thought. Years of success and sound investments have led MetLife to the top of the industry. The company was founded back in the mid 1860's as a pioneer in the insurance field. It was set up to insure Civil War sailors and soldiers against disabilities due to the war. It was only after the war that the company shifted its focus to life insurance. These new products were pointed straight at the ordinary people in the community of New York City (or the "metropolitan" district). In the later part of the century the company was struggling. Insurance companies around them were failing regularly. The company president looked to England for new training methods. By the end of the century the new methods had turned the company around and MetLife was the largest life insurer in North America. Today the company continues to meet the challenges of the times. Its corporate vision is to build financial freedom for everyone. The products and the service that it provides will help to make that vision a reality.
