Tune Up Your Auto Insurance
Your auto insurance is purchased to protect your finances, your investment and your future. It is important that you keep that policy up to date by periodically reviewing your coverage and your needs.
Liability limit - as your finances expand so should your liability limit. A lawsuit can be brought against you for almost any reason. The damages that most people seek in today's court system are exceedingly high. Purchase the highest liability limit that you can afford and that fits your current financial status. You may have to purchase additional policies to give you the coverage that you need.
Uninsured motorists - despite the law, there are still people driving that don't have insurance (or enough insurance). It doesn't matter who is at fault for the accident if the other party is unable to pay. Having additional uninsured motorist insurance will protect you and your passengers against such a situation.
Consider the age of the car - as your automobile gets older, the need for collision or comprehensive becomes less. When you are paying more in a year for coverage than the policy would pay out (after the deductible) then you might want to consider dropping the unnecessary coverage.
Change agents if needed - you want an insurance agent that is concerned about your needs and that you can trust with recommendations for insurance amounts and adjustments. If you insurance agent is not doing his or her job, or if your agent retires from the company, then it may be time for you to look somewhere else for your insurance needs.
As your needs change, and your driving habits change so will your insurance coverage requirements. Review your auto insurance on a periodic basis to make sure that you have all the coverage you need and get rid of that coverage that is no longer required.
