Teenage Drivers
Statistics have proven that the majority of accidents involve teenage drivers. Often it is the inexperience of the driver that causes the accident. Sometimes it is the immaturity of the driver. No matter what the cause, the statistics force the cost of insuring a teenager to climb through the roof.
There are a number of different ways that you can help lower the cost of automobile insurance for you teenager. There are also some things that you can do to help prevent the need for filing claims on that insurance (which could force premiums up even higher).
Take Driver's Education or some other similar course. Many insurance companies offer discounts to teenagers who have been successful in these types of classes.
Get good grades. Sometimes a high grade point average can lower the premiums for a teenage driver as much as 10 percent.
Limit the driving time. Teenagers are more likely to be involved in wrecks after dark. Limit their first 1000 hours of drive time to day light hours.
Limit the passengers. Too many people in one vehicle can be distracting to the most experienced driver. Limit your teenager to one or two passengers until his or her experience level is up.
Drive clean. A clean driving record will help to lower premium costs. Make sure that your teenager knows and follows all of the laws of the road.
Lowering the cost of auto insurance for teenagers just takes a few little steps. You can really motivate your teenager to get on board with these money saving ideas by making the teenager pay the premium each month (or not have car privileges).
